About this daffodil cross stitch pattern

One bloom faces outward with its petals swept back around a ruffled trumpet in deeper gold. A long stem and two green leaves curve away below it, and everything has a black outline, so the flower looks bold and graphic rather than soft.

Daffodils are the flower of the first warm weeks of the year, which makes this a natural Easter or spring gift that feels seasonal without eggs or bunnies. Its tall, narrow shape also suits a slim frame or a bookmark-sized panel. The floral collection has more spring flowers, and the Tulip makes a good partner.

What you need

Difficulty and stitching time

It’s rated Beginner and makes a good first flower. Black, Lemon and Golden Yellow – Very Light cover more than half the design, and the rest are small accents. At 1,796 stitches, expect roughly 20 to 30 hours at a steady 60 to 100 stitches an hour.

Tips for stitching this pattern

Size, fabric and framing

On 14-count Aida the finished design measures 3.4β€œ x 5.8β€œ (8.6 x 14.7 cm). On 16-count it comes out at 3.0β€œ x 5.1β€œ, and on 18-count at 2.7β€œ x 4.5β€œ. For the 14-count version, an 8β€œ x 10β€œ frame leaves room for a mat.

It also fits a 6-inch hoop, and a pale green or yellow fabric would make the flower feel even more like spring.
