Choosing a flower pattern
Flowers are a forgiving place to start: a petal that is one stitch off still reads as a petal, which is not true of a face. If you are new to cross stitch, pick a single-stem design with few colors and finish it before moving on to a full bouquet or a leafy houseplant.
Most florals look best on white or cream fabric, where the petal colors stay bright. They also make easy gifts for gardeners or for Mother's Day; compare the finished size on each card with the frame or hoop you have in mind before you choose.
