A soft beige bunny with long lop ears holds a small white ring pillow in front of her, with two gold wedding rings on top. She wears a sage-green dress with a white lace collar and hem, and a crown of golden wheat, blue thistles and curled ribbon. Her face is simple: two black eyes, a tiny nose and bright pink cheeks.

What you need

• Fabric: 14-count Aida in white, cut to at least 14“ x 17“ (3“ around the design for hooping and framing).
• Thread: 15 DMC colors, about 17 skeins in total, stitched with two strands. The main colors are 822 Beige Gray – Light (4,192 stitches), 841 Beige Brown – Light (1,542) and 938 Coffee Brown – Ultra Dark (1,041).
• Needle: a size 24 tapestry needle.
• Stitches: full cross stitches only, with no backstitch.

Difficulty and stitching time

It’s rated Intermediate. The bunny’s body is large and even, so much of it goes quickly, but the dress uses three gray-greens and the crown mixes several small colors. At 11,018 stitches it takes roughly 110 to 184 hours at a steady 60 to 100 stitches an hour.

Tips for stitching this pattern

• Buy all three skeins of 822 at once. Beige Gray – Light covers 4,192 stitches, more than a third of the design, across the whole body and both ears. Skeins from one dye lot keep the fur an even shade.
• Label the three gray-greens. The dress is shaded with 924 Gray Green – Very Dark (761), 926 Gray Green – Medium (1,001) and 927 Gray Green – Light (764). Keep them in order on a floss card so the folds of the dress stay in the right place.
• Leave the rings for last. The two rings are drawn in 3829 Old Gold – Very Dark on the B5200 Snow White pillow. Stitch them after the pillow is filled, counting from the pillow’s edge, so the small circles keep their shape.

Size, fabric and framing

On 14-count Aida the finished design measures 7.8“ x 10.8“ (19.8 x 27.4 cm). On 16-count it comes out at 6.8“ x 9.4“, and on 18-count at 6.1“ x 8.4“. An 11“ x 14“ frame leaves room for a mat.
